This mash-up video of George W. Bush’s speech is by Opie and Anthony, a radio duo of shock jocks who work on the floor below us and can sometimes be seen doing their show on the street.

So says Monticello Explorer while doubly acknowledging their Webby Award for Cultural Institutions and keeping their acceptance speech within the required five-word maximum. (For a good time, read them all here.)

***A must-see website!***
This just in from Thomas Friedman, Person of the Year: "The world is really flat."
Since moving to NYC, I’ve had the privelege to see many well-known faces. Starting with Donald Trump and one of his more famous contestants, then Leslie Stahl, the Reverend Al Sharpton, Chevy Chase, Howard Stern and his co-host Robin Quivers (man, she’s tall!). Just recently we found out that Paul Giamatti lives just blocks away from us, too. But somehow they all pale in comparison with seeing the Godfather of Soul, himself: James Brown.
The latest Time Out NY cover story writes on being a Divo (male diva). There they list common rules for all Divos. Among them is to travel with an entourage and act like you own the place. This is the exact aura that he exuded. From his jet black sunglasses and perfectly coiffed do to his tailormade unique wardrobe, he seemed the very epitome of personal fashion. The Venus on his arm and obviously effective bodyguards seperating him from the cache of fans in magnetic tow, you knew this man was large and in charge.
Wherever he roams, it’s no doubt that James Brown is the Godfather of Soul.
One of the things I won’t see now that I’ve been seduced away from the Dark Side by Apple. Wikipedia has a great history of Microft’s well-known (to Windows users) error screen. Even Bill Gates can’t get away from the monster he created. Below he’s unveiling Windows 98.
The next two games are really going to be an uphill battle for the US. With Italy this Sat and Ghana next week, they’d better learn from their mistakes… and fast!

Around New York, many bars in niche cultural neighborhoods are exclusively showing their home country’s football games, this time held in Germany.
What a city! To be able to see such a variety of national spirit in such close proximity is excellent.
If you’re new to football, like me, and need some help with the game go here.
For help with lingo that will just get you by, go here.
Along with the games come sponsors. Here’s a good viral video worth watching.
Well the MacQibla software from Xeric Design is your solution. This tight program (below) supports the Western calendar as well as the Islamic calendar, with accurate prayer times based on your global geographic location and mp3 audio prayer files. Nice!
They also build EarthDesk,
a dynamic continuously updated world map for the desktop. With
real-time global shadows and cloud cover, one can accurately view
earth’s weather in its entirety.
Good to see technology innovating aspects of every culture’s most basic needs.
Check out this slideshow of the universe from Molecular Expressions. It scales views in successive orders of magnitude starting with the Milky Way, 10 million light years from the Earth, until arriving at an oak tree in Tallahassee, Florida. It then further magnifies the leaf’s cells down to the subatomic universe of electrons and protons. Very cool.
